Travy

Travy is the culmination of many years of research into a big universal modular flat pack table. It is composed out of 3 monocoque (selfsupporting) beams, locked into 2 transversal beams, all held by four feet. The 2 gaps in between the spaced beams are filled with 2 loose panels. When packed in essence the Travy is no more then 3 beams stacked, hence the supercompact box.

The panels have punch holes and superstrong (reusable) adheseve strip on the bottom; to attach wiring and small appliances (powerbrick, hubs,…): simple, elegant and very integrated wire management. Also the tablefeet are easily height adjustable by hand, with height indication.

Technically the Travy takes is cue from a mix of the automotive and building industry: The beams are composed out of precoated (saving cost) metalsheets profiles rolled into form by machine (saving costs: direct from roll), these open profiles are closed with a 3mm solid high pressure laminate, glued on with a special adhesive. The result are beams that are incredibly strong, light and both structural and estheticly finished products in one go. This while still remaining very affordable, compared to expensive off the shelve lightweight sandwich panels, which still need to be covered at all sides for outer appearance. The feet are extruded aluminium profiles that are powdercoated in the same color as the tabletop they are in contact with. This gives the impression of a continous sculpture in one color, with the silver/mirror of the beames hanging underneath it: While the beams are about 50mm thick, it seems as if they are much tinner because of this visual contrast trick.

The production model of the Travy is more refined and will have no visible screws and aluminium part at the top surface and sides. Also the feet are more elegant, and wil be of fixed height.
